Privacy Policy

Effective September 22, 2026

The short version: Proteva does not collect your data. Logins, notes, and files stay on the Mac that created the vault. There is no account, no iCloud, and no analytics.

1. Who this applies to

This policy describes how Proteva (“the app”, Recon6 Studios) handles information on macOS. Proteva is a local-only password and file vault.

2. We do not collect your data

Proteva does not create accounts and does not include analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. The Mac App Store build has no network entitlement. We do not operate a server that receives your vault.

3. What stays on your Mac

Your master password is never written to disk. It is used only to derive an in-memory key, then discarded.
The vault (encrypted database and encrypted file objects) lives in the app’s Application Support folder inside the Mac sandbox.
Copying a username or password places that value on the system clipboard for 30 seconds, then clears it if it is still the copied value.
Optional exports you choose (encrypted .vaultnotes backup or confirmed CSV) are written only to a location you pick in a save dialog.

4. What we cannot see

Recon6 Studios cannot read your vault, reset a forgotten master password, or recover your data. If the master password is lost, the vault cannot be opened.

5. Apple

If you buy Proteva on the Mac App Store, Apple processes the purchase under Apple’s Privacy Policy. That purchase data is not available to the Proteva vault.

6. Children

Proteva is not directed at children and does not collect personal information from anyone.

7. This website

This marketing site (recon6studios.app) may use standard web hosting logs (for example Cloudflare). Those logs are not connected to your vault.

8. Changes

If this policy changes, the new date will appear at the top of this page.
